Danae Picks Apples

Well, not really. All the apples had been picked and were in bags. But we did go to the apple orchard! It was cold and good. We also went to Kaine's last football game. The Monkey is not so much into sports unless it involves putting the ball into your mouth and drooling. Then she would be a pro. She would probably get a Gatorade endorsement deal (Is It In You?).

Our new thing is screeching. It's kind of like talking, but louder. In the mornings, before we pull her out of the crib, we hear her talking to herself, gurgling and making rasberries, and eventually we hear "Eeeeeeee!"

Then it's time to get her out.

We also went to Grandpa Ron's and Grandma Fely's for dinner. We met Uncle Dan. He was nice! Pictures will materialize soon...

The Monkey is feeling much better than last week. Nobody (that we know of) has tried to take her blood all week! The closest thing was Grandpa Bill trying to kiss her face off. It's not coming off Grandpa Bill! Kiss and kiss away!

Mommy, Daddy and Danae Spend The Night At St. Joseph's

Sunday night, around 8:00, our little monkey got sick - really sick. She started throwing up (no big deal, right?) and she just didn't stop until she was grey and listless and staring into space. Daddy was freaking out. Mommy's car had broke down the day before and she took Daddy's car to work, so Daddy had to call Mommy and wait until she came and picked him and Danae up and took them to the hospital.

The wait in the emergency room was endless, and Daddy had too much time to think about what had caused baby-girl to get so sick. She ate formula for the first time since she was a week-old a couple hours earlier, Mommy and Daddy had gone out the night before and ate spicy food while Aunty Jen and Kaine babysat for us, she was sitting in the boppie which she hadn't used in a little while... Mommy cried and Danae continued to throw up.

We finally got into the emergency room and they immediately put Danae on I.V. She got her color back and fell asleep right away - she was so tired from all the heaving. The doctor said that Danae was dehydrated and had to spend the night. Mommy and Daddy could too.

Baby girl slept for a couple hours at a time. It was tough because her left hand was wrapped up with the I.V. and kept rubbing against her face.

Around 5:00 the nurse said we could let her nurse, but we had to take Danae in for a blood test. That's when everything started to go pear-shaped. They took us the the "treatment room" and turned off the lights, and with a flashlight pressed against her pudgy little arm, proceeded to look for a good vein. Well, that was weird enough for the monkey, and she started crying. They thought they found one and started poking and crying turned to screaming. And after poking around for about 10 minutes they only got about a c.c. of blood and gave up.

We took the very distraught baby back to the room, gave her a boobie, and she fell asleep.

Around 8:00 the doctor came in and told us Danae seemed to be alright, but they needed that blood test. As soon as they got that blood, we could be discharged.

We tried again another three times! Same events, same results. The right foot, the crook of her right arm, the right hand. Poor baby was like a pin cushion. Finally on the third time, they found a vein on the scalp. The only thing that made the screaming better was that they were finally getting their three c.c.'s. They unwrapped Danae's left arm (whiched looked really uncomfortable to Daddy) and discharged us around 1:30.

After all that, after all the poking and sceaming and heaving, they still don't know what made her so sick. The doctor said she doubted it was the formula (Daddy was pretty sure that's what it was). She said that Danae probably picked up a virus, but that her white blood cell count was low, so what ever it was is gone now. She suggested iron suplements.

When we got home, Mommy promised Danae that she could savage the boobies all she wanted all day long.

And she did.

It snowed! Alot! and then melted like it was never ther, but we have photographic evidence.

Getting "Acclimated"

Our first week has gone pretty well. Daddy and Danae had a good night when Mommy went to Friday's to train - apparently 7 years isn't good enough for Michigan Friday's. We went to get our Michigan driver's licsense'. The Secretary of State here only takes the Discover card - isn't that silly?
We have a new song:
"Where are the poopies?
gotta find the poopies
where are the poopies?
Oh they're all right HERE"
(sung to the tune of Little Bunny Foo Foo).

Danae is trying different winter looks. I think this one is called "Protecting my precious bean from hail and flying debris". Give her a break, she's never seen winter and has only heard bad things.
Peek-a-boo is quickly becoming a favorite. She was laughing so hard I thought she was going to pee her pants. I mean, she did eventually pee her pants, but I don't think it had anything to do with Peek-a-boo.

The girl GG has developed the abilty to put the monkey to sleep at any given time - unfortunately, it drains all the girl GG's power and she has to sleep too.

We Live In Michigan Now...

We made it. It was a little hairy (especially the part where we went down the mountain in the rain) but we got here in one piece - well, three pieces.

It's as cold as the coldest day in Florida every day
and it's only gonna get colder. Mommy and Daddy already bought winter coats but are afraid people will think we're wussies if we wear them too soon. Danae is completely covered (both figuratively and literally) as far as winter clothes go.

After the ordeal of the drive and unpacking, we have been taking it easy for the last couple days.

This is what Mommy saw for about 1,500 miles

Did you know that the continental breakfast comes with free milk? It does!

Let me tell you, after a long day of driving, even the crappiest hotel room is like an oasis. Otis and Tommy got to stretch, and Danae got to play with something besides her fingers - namely Mommy and Daddy.

We even saw the Kane family in Savannah! Baylee couldn't make it because she had to go to church (we missed you B-Love). Ashlee has teeth and knows where her butt is!

When we got here the power was off! Well, to be perfectly honest, we just couldn't find the power box for a couple hours - until after Aunty Jen went to the store and bought enough candles and flashlights for a hurricane. We found it then! Aunty Jen and Cousin Kaine even helped unpack the truck. They undid all of Uncle Tony "The Tetris Man"'s hard work. Good news Uncle Tony! Nothing broke that didn't break when we put it in!

Danae has even chosen her college football team, the Wolver-somethings.

We went to Cousin Kaines football game on Saturday. The weather was not kind. Around these parts, they call it "inclement". I call it cold and wet, and then cold some more

This is the tree outside Danae's room. You will probably see a lot of this tree as the seasons change.

We miss you already Florida Friends.
